Don't Clog Your Pores!

Don't Clog Your Pores!

Here’s some good news: exercise is really good for your skin! It regulates hormones, prevents radical damage and increases circulation which makes the skin glow and look younger. To keep that healthy glow it’s important to avoid outbreaks and back acne as dead skin and bacteria may clog your pores.

Here are some tips on how you can keep your pores clean:

Hygiene
If you are prone to back acne you should avoid tight shirts, look for breathable loose shirt alternatives that are designed for a sweaty work out. Make sure the material is breathable and suitable for work outs.

After your gym session wash your gym clothes as soon as possible as bacteria will grow on them. Avoid using softener when washing your gym clothes as it makes the material less breathable.

Another good hygiene tip is to wipe down work out equipment before using them. How disgusting is the thought of having your skin touch someone else’s old sweat!! Keep antibacterial wet wipes at hand in your gym bag.

Shower & Skin Maintenance
You may not know that by washing your face before exercising, there is less of a possibility for bacteria to get into your pores. Make sure to always wash your face before exercising and keep your skin exfoliated and bacteria free.

Always make sure to keep your face make-up free during work outs but make sure to use sunblock when exercising outdoors as the sun can dry the skin and cause breakouts.

Try to shower as soon as you can after your work out, if you can’t get to a shower wipe down with a moist cleansing cloth to avoid clogging your pores..

If you are prone to acne, apply acne medication after your shower and moisturise twice a day to keep your skin soft. This will help to keep your pores clean. Don’t forget to make sure that you are using a high quality or organic moisturiser.

Health
If you are prone to acne and also have a sweet tooth try to minimise or avoid sugar altogether as sugar is known to increase inflammations.

Don’t forget to stay hydrated during and after your workout to help flush out toxins. As a norm, drink a minimum of 2.5 litres of water a day and more when exercising. To give your skin an extra boost top up with anti-inflammatory food and beverages to help your body fight bad bacteria.

We hope these tips will help you say bye bye to acne and hello to a work out with confidence!
